At least eight people were taken to the hospital after what police believe was a random knife attack in and around downtown Colorado Springs early Monday morning. "We then proceeded to that location and were getting medical to all victims there".

Officers continued searching the area, trying to capture the suspect before he could hurt anyone else. When they arrived in the area, they caught the suspect and arrested him.

Officers in Colorado Springs responded around 1:30 a.m.to a call regarding two victims who said they were attacked by a suspect who fled down Midland Trail near I-25, CSPD Sgt. Shawn Peterson told 11 News.

Peterson said the victims were as cooperative as they could be but weren't sure exactly which way their attacker went.

The victims have been taken to hospitals but police in a statement Monday say that the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The eighth victim was in stable condition at Penrose Hospital, hospital spokeswoman Andrea Sinclair said.

The suspect's identity has not been released. He said the man then attacked them both.

"There doesn't appear to be any accomplices".

Police said the suspect was a male but did not immediately provide any other information about him.

Peterson said, "We were scouring the downtown area to include the parks and the trails looking for the suspect".

According to police, there is no relationship between the suspect and victims.
