You can use the Master Sword pickup to transform Mario into Link if you're playing in the 8-bit Super Mario Bros. style. Mario will transform into Link, equipped with a new set of moves like attacking with a sword, shooting arrows, and dropping bombs. And it's not just the Master Sword you get to play with, either.

"Super Mario Maker 2 is getting a legendary update", reads a Nintendo post. When it comes to building courses, there are also unbreakable "P" blocks and high-speed Dash blocks.

The Legend of Zelda's Link and Master Sword come to Super Mario Maker 2 this week, on Thursday, 5th December. In this mode, you'll be able to compete with other players for the fastest completion time in a number of Nintendo-made courses. The new down-thrust move will defeat usually protected enemies like spike-covered Spinies that can easily kill Mario.

The P Block and Switch turn invisible P Blocks to platforms or vice versa. If used in the snow environment, Spike will toss snowballs instead!

In addition to Link, the update also adds more course parts and enemies, as well as a new Ninji Speedruns mode, ideal for players looking for a challenge. Players can even edit the height of each Pokey. You'll see ghosts of other players' runs - represented by Ninji - as you play, giving you an idea of where you need to improve in order to snag the record.
