R. Kelly's legal troubles are far from over. Prosecutors said that in 1994, Kelly caused another person to offer a bribe to an official to create a fake identification document for a person identified by the pseudonym "Jane Doe #1".

The indictment did not mention the wedding.

He has been accused of, in 1994, bribing his way through obtaining a marriage license for Aaliyah Dana Haughton that listed her age as 18, (although she was 15).

Defense attorney Douglas Anton on Thursday called the latest charge against his client "ridiculous and absurd".

In the past, Kelly attorney Steve Greenberg claimed that the late singer lied about her age and that the "Seems Like You're Ready" singer had no idea she was 15 when they Wednesday. She died in a plane crash in 2001 at age 22. He wrote and produced her hit debut album "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number". The allegation has been added to the existing racketeering charge filed against Kelly in NY that accuses him of sexually exploiting underage girls.

The indictment filed in NY alleges that R. Kelly "and others worked to recruit and groom women and girls for illegal sexual activity and to maintain control over them, including isolating them from friends and family members", NBC News writes. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges as well.

R. Kelly has been in jail since July, following his arrest on charges including child pornography and enticement of a minor.

Before then, "for more than two decades, the recording industry turned a blind eye to Kelly's behavior as his career continued to thrive and he was afforded every luxury of a chart-topping superstar", The Washington Post's Geoff Edgers wrote previous year in an expansive report of Kelly's alleged crimes.

Aaliyah's marriage to R. Kelly was annulled after one year at the request of her parents.

In the now-famous documentary "Surviving R.Kelly" the singer said he saw the RnB legend molest the young Aaliyah.

Kelly - who has previously denied all the allegations against him - has refused to ever speak in detail about his relationship with the late star out of respect for her.

After Kelly's federal trials in Chicago in April and Brooklyn in May, he'll then return to Chicago in September to face a third trial, on IL state charges of sexual assault and abuse.
