With its new Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G chipset, Qualcomm is looking to target the upper mid-range smartphone segment.

While Qualcomm has now officially unveiled these two new mobile chip platforms, the company has yet to provide specific details on what they offer.

"Motorola will continue leading the 5G era with our expanded lineup of 5G solutions in 2020-driven by the high-performing Snapdragon 765 and 865 Mobile Platforms, re-invigorating our place in the premium flagship space", Motorola President Sergio Buniac said in a press release. But its mid-level Snapdragon 765 will included integrated 5G.

It probably also shouldn't come as any surprise that the one concrete thing we do know about the 865 chip is that it includes baked in support for 5G with Qualcomm's X55 5G modem.

We'll have more reporting this week from the Snapdragon Summit, which has become a way to foreshadow how Android phones and always-on laptops will change in the next 12 months. This is what Qualcomm had to say regarding today's announcement.
