Police said that the veterinarian was brutally raped and killed by the accused who burnt her body in the Shamshabad area on November 27.

She has suffered 90% burns after five men which also included rape accused who were out on bail, attacked her. There has to be a full stop to such incidents. The four suspects were arrested on November 29 for allegedly raping and killing the 26-year-old veterinary surgeon last week. Her body which was found charred on the highway had angered many people, offline and online.

According to Cyderabad police officials, the four accused were taken to the spot to recreate the crime scene, following which some of the accused tried to flee after attacking the officials with stones. Otherwise, the accused would have escaped from police custody and it would have been hard to catch them later. They later set her on fire and dumped her body in Chatanpally, Shadnagar, around 60 km from Hyderabad.

Reacting to the police encounter, the victim's sister said: "We are happy. So, again, our people started in retaliation, and in that retaliation, the four accused got killed", he added. "They should be shot dead".

"To appease public rage over state failures against sexual assault, Indian authorities commit another violation", tweeted Meenakshi Ganguly, South Asia director for Human Rights Watch.

But on Friday, a crowd gathered at the site of the shooting to celebrate... As the mobs chased the police convoy to take control of the accused, the cops had to resort to lathi-charge.

Despite the setting up of fast track courts, cases have moved slowly, for lack of witnesses and the inability of many families to go through the long legal process. The Telangana Bar Association has resolved that no lawyer should argue for the accused.

However, there were doubts over the efficacy of the verdict of the fast-track-courts which often fail to stand the test of scrutiny in a High Court. The people of Warangal had expressed their displeasure over the High Court's verdict.

The incident took place just three days before a veterinarian doctor was raped and murdered in Hyderabad. Speedy justice is what we want, isn't it? "The accused in my wife's case also deserves similar punishment", he told Telangana Today. She was on her way to the court to seek justice in a case after she was raped a year back.
