The Rebels' next tweet featured a speeding train GIF, indicating the Lane Kiffin train is on its way to Oxford.

Ole Miss has officially announced the Kiffin hiring.

As rumors swirl surrounding Lane Kiffin potentially becoming the next head coach at Ole Miss, the team's Twitter account made the news official in a way that captures its new head coach perfectly.

Kiffin, 44, has been head coach at Florida Atlantic the past three seasons.

Barring a setback in talks, Kiffin will return to the Southeastern Conference, where he was coach at Tennessee for one season (2009) and an offensive coordinator under Nick Saban at Alabama from 2014 to '16.

A formal introduction is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. ET in Oxford, Mississippi.

"Coach Kiffin deserves our thanks and a great deal of credit for continuing to build our football program to high levels of success".

"I am truly honored and humbled to join the Ole Miss family, and recognize this as a special opportunity to lead Rebel Football into the future", Kiffin said in a statement. As conference championships wrap up this weekend, Arkansas is expected to make an announcement soon, though just who will get the job seems very much still up in the air.
