The Maple Leafs (13-12-4), a top-10 goal-scoring club, had won four of their previous five games since firing head coach Mike Babcock.

After killing off Jake Muzzin's four-minute penalty for high-sticking early in the third, thanks in large part to a big stop by Andersen on Donskoi, the Maple Leafs' first man advantage turned into a disaster. "I'm going to the bench and then I hear somebody yell the puck is coming, so I make a split-second decision to play it and (Rielly) yells that he's there".

And I know that nearly all great goal-scorers are streaky, but against Colorado on Wednesday night and against Philadelphia on Tuesday, Matthews had just a few decent scoring chances.

Sheldon Keefe indicated before the game that Frederik Andersen will get the start vs. Colorado. "It's unacceptable to do that to our starting goalie, a guy that's stolen games for us". "He sets a real tone for us and the backbone of our group".

Jarry put together a series of sharp saves to preserve the lead and Noesen's late tally with just 39 seconds left in the second provided a jolt from which the Blues couldn't recover. We just left him out to dry. The Flyers won 4-3 in a shootout in Philadelphia on November 2 while the Leafs earned a 4-3 shootout win at home on November 9.

"It's a crappy outcome", Marner said. We talked. I felt it was important to address that situation.

"While our attention has gone there, we've gotten away from some of the things offensively we focused on in the early going and that has caused us to revert back to some things we don't necessarily like. We'll have to try to fix that".

Matthews was indignant on Tuesday evening in Philadelphia when the Leafs allowed an empty-net aim after which three extra scores within the ultimate minutes to lose 6-1 to the Flyers. "We protected the middle". The plan on Monday was to go with Andersen against the Flyers and Michael Hutchinson against the Avs, but since Hutchinson took to the ice at Scotiabank Arena Wednesday morning, there is some speculation that Andersen may go in back ends of the back-to-back.

After being drafted by the Maple Leafs in the first round of the 2009 draft and playing parts of ten seasons with the franchise, Kadri was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in the deal that brought Tyson Barrie and Alexander Kerfoot north of the border over the summer.

The 27-year-old Shore has 56 points (17 goals, 39 assists) in 257 career National Hockey League games.

"I came close to shedding a tear", Kadri said. "I'm forever thankful for the fans embracing me and treating me so well".

Colorado has converted on 19.4 percent of its power play chances this year, a figure that's right around league average.

On one play, Matthews wound up on the wrong side of the puck in the defensive zone, which led to a Philadelphia goal.

"It just makes the loss even harder". Again, Keefe said he just wanted different looks and gauge how more ice time affected certain defencemen.

The primary entertainment regarding the period with all the current Toronto roster - minus checking winger Trevor Moore - had been additional disjointed than dominating on Wednesday, up in opposition into the rested resources of the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche visit Montreal on Thursday.
