The incident took place around 6.30 am when the accused were taken to the site of offence for the reconstruction of the scene of the crime as part of the investigation, a senior police official had told PTI. The four accused were shot dead on NH-44 near Hyderabad - the same highway where the charred body of 26-year-old veterinarian found.

Meanwhile, an National Human Rights Commission team is scheduled to visit the place where the encounter took place, on Saturday.

He again thanked police and the chief minister for the police action.

According to reports, the culprits took the woman to fields outside the village and doused her in kerosene before setting her on fire.

She has mentioned that humanity is about respecting, showing love and compassion, and has added that more than rejoicing this justice, people must enlighten children, and educate them, especially the boys that men become hero only when they make the planet safe for women.

The operation was overseen by a police officer involved in two similar incidents including when three acid attack suspects were killed in a forest in 2008, the Indian Express newspaper reported on Saturday.

The Petition filed by advocate ML Sharma also sought action against Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan and Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal "for supporting extrajudicial killings".

The Telangana High Court ordered authorities to preserve the bodies of the suspects and submit a video of the autopsies ahead of a court hearing set for Monday. In an official statement today, Adityanath said, "All the accused persons have been arrested".

The case prompted nationwide protests and calls for swift - and tough - justice from a slow and overburdened legal system that campaigners say all too often fails to convict rapists.

A day after the pre-dawn "encounter", Telangana police said that they have registered a case in connection with the encounter and the four accused killed by it in "retaliatory firing" have been booked for "attacking" the cops who had accompanied them.

After the men were arrested last Friday, hundreds of people laid siege to the police station where they were being held. Later, they staged a drama of offering help and took advantage of the situation.

But the murdered woman's father said: "Justice was done".

A 27-year-old veterinarian was gang-raped, smothered to death and burnt last week.

"She [the Unnao rape victim] suffered a cardiac arrest at 11:10 p.m. and we tried to resuscitate her, but she could not survive and at 11:40 p.m. she died", a Sardurjung Hospital spokesperson said, cited by India Today. Telangana police on Friday said that the accused were killed in an exchange of fire with police during the morning hours.
