'FRIENDS' actor Ron Leibman passes away at 82

Ron passed away from pneumonia on Friday in his hometown after a long and illustrious career on stage, film and TV. He also lent his voice to the character of Ron Cadillac on FX's Archer, playing the husband of his real-life wife Jessica Walter. "Our thoughts go out to his wife, Jessica (Walter), and his family", the late actor's agent declared in a statement.

Ron's career spanned for over six decades.

He also played famous NY lawyer and Donald Trump mentor Roy Cohn in Angels in America, winning a Tony Award for the stage production of the play.

Ron played short-tempered Dr Leonard Green on the popular United States sitcom, which starred Jennifer Aniston (as his character's daughter, Rachel Green) as well as Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry.

"I've been a professional actor for 35 years", he said.

When he accepted his Tony Award for best actor, Mr. Leibman noted that he had seen his first Broadway play when he was 3.

In addition to "Friends" and "The Sopranos", he had a recurring role in the TV crime series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". She thanked him "for being my champion".

She wrote: "So numerous best memories of my career have Ron Leibman in them".

"No one will ever be hotter to me than Ron Leibman in NORMA RAE. look at that pinkie hooked on that fence. what a gorgeous actor", tweeted actress Zoe Kazan. Leibman was earlier married to actor Linda Lavin.
