Deepika Padukone will leave you with goosebumps in 'Chhapaak' trailer

In fact, the diva also broke into tears during the recent trailer launch of the Chhapaak and couldn't stop gushing about this Meghna Gulzar directorial.

Through her story, the film "Chhapaak" makes an attempt to understand the on-ground consequences of surviving an acid attack in India, the medico-legal-social state of affairs that transpires after the acid has been hurled and the face is irreparably burnt.

The film portrays the journey of an acid attack survivor when she takes a stand and decides to seek justice as she goes through the court cases and investigation followed by cold response of the society.

Meghna, who was standing next to Deepika, said the actor had not seen the complete trailer earlier, which is why she felt overwhelmed. It is so ironic ke mujhe khud pata nahi tha pehle baar jab main dekhungi apne aap ko aaine mein toh kya lagega (It's ironic that I had no idea what would my reaction be when I look at myself in the mirror for the first time). Meghna walked into the office and took me through the story. Nothing had changed. That is the day I found my character, and I knew what I need to do in this movie. "It is not often that you come across a story that inspires you so much, and it's not about the incident as much as it's about the triumph over it". Speaking at length about her cherished interaction with Laxmi, she said, "I think it's her spirit". One of the most important things is the marriage between having that story and also having the right person to tell it.

Deepika and Fox Star Studios and marks her production debut.

The film is set to hit the big screen on January 10, 2020.
