The Milwaukee Brewers' defending National League MVP has received his second consecutive Silver Slugger award for being the best offensive player at his position.

This is Realmuto's first career Gold Glove honor, while being his second Silver Slugger, having won the award after his final season with the Miami Marlins in 2018 when he slugged 30 doubles, 21 home runs and 74 RBI in 125 games. There is no Silver Slugger Award in the American League because pitchers do not take at-bats.

Louisville Slugger, the Official Bat of Major League Baseball, announced the winners of the 2019 Silver Slugger Awards Thursday night. Selections are based on a combination of offensive statistics, including batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage, as well as the managers' and coaches' general impressions of a player's overall offensive value.

Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz, Astros outfielder George Springer and Boston Red Sox teammates Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts rounded out the American League winners.

For Gold Glove, Realmuto is the first Phillies Gold Glove Award victor since Jimmy Rollins in 2012, and the first catcher on the team, in particular, since Mike Lieberthal in 1999. Among AL third baseman, Bregman ranked first in homers, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS, while ranking second in batting average and RBI.
