George came out ready to play as he made his season debut in Thursday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Pelicans: E'Twaun Moore scored 15 in his first start of the season as the Pelicans used their eighth starting lineup in their first 11 games.

Despite the team's loss, George put up incredible numbers.

He shot 10 of 17 from the floor, with three of five from three-point range, and was a ideal 10 from the line.

"I thought I was awful, I've got a lot to get back to, just from my performance, my defense, just for the flow of the game", George told reporters.

He told the Los Angeles Times: "I got a lot to get back to, just from my performance".

George said afterwards that his shoulders felt the best they had in "a really long time" and that his conditioning was fine.

George also had 3 turnovers in "clutch time", according to ESPN.

"Terrible" even though he poured in 33 points, nine rebounds and four assists in just 24 minutes while shooting 10-of-17 from the floor, 3-of-5 from 3-point range and a flawless 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Rivers added that once his team is at full strength, an offensive attack led by George, Leonard and Williams will be a daunting task for opposing teams as few have enough elite defenders to neutralize all three players.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George (13) controls the ball against New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday (11) in the second half of their game at the Smoothie King Center.

"A lot of the [defensive] breakdowns happened just because of my lack of being out there with those guys, communication, a lot of those breakdowns were basically on me, I look forward to watching the film and learning from that".

"He was great. We ran some good stuff for him. That's what I gauge good games and bad games on".

It is likely that Rivers will take it easy with PG as he is just coming back from recovery.

As a whole, George thought his performance was bad, but mentioned that it's the best his shoulders have felt "in a really long time".

Giannis Antetokounmpo matched his season high of 38 points and recorded 16 rebounds and three steals to lead Milwaukee past visiting Chicago.

Rookie Tyler Herro, who missed Tuesday's game with an ankle injury, had 16 points, while Jimmy Butler finished with 14 for Miami.

The star pair are expected to play together for the first time against the Atlanta Hawks at the Staples Centre today.

Lou Williams scored 31, Rodney McGruder had 20 and Montrezl Harrell added 18 for L.A. Kawhi Leonard, the other marquee offseason acquisition that helped make the Clippers championship contenders, did not suit up after playing 41 minutes in a 102-93 loss at Houston the night before.
