REAL Madrid are reportedly lining up a bid for Raheem Sterling, with Gareth Bale being offered in part-exchange to Manchester City along with £70million.

Despite there being no participation from Bale in the supposed transfer, those close to Bale have at the same time stated that his wish hasn't changed: he wants to leave Real Madrid.

Real Madrid has been struggling to reach at the top of the European football ever since Cristiano Ronaldo has left, and they certainly lack the lethality upfront.

Real Madrid expressed interest in signing Sterling previous year and in the summer and Sky Sports say representatives from the Spanish club will travel to watch the City star in action for England next month.

Further ahead, Sterling's contract with Manchester City runs till 2023, and with the current status of Real Madrid, it seems near to impossible for Los Blancos to lure him.

A representative of Bale distanced themselves from the move after a comment to talkSPORT: "With regards to that story running on Bale, Raheem Sterling and £70m - complete rubbish".

Last month, Metro.co.uk revealed Manchester City, now second in the Premier League, are hoping to tie Sterling down to a new long-term contract. It goes without saying that he was also a key component in the Liverpool side that lifted the Champions League last season - Salah also scored one of Liverpool's goals in the final against Tottenham Hotspur.
