Manuel Pellegrini struggling to understand why West Ham’s form has nosedived

Newcastle roared into a three-goal lead and held off a late comeback to beat West Ham 3-2 in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Website Goal, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils are interested in a deal to sign Rice following the England international's impressive start to the season.

Pellegrini, a former Premier League victor with Manchester City, is unlikely to be in immediate danger, but the Chilean will know that he must turn things around sooner or later, or he runs the risk of alienating a West Ham fanbase known for voicing their discontent from the stands.

"It's really hard to understand why we started the game with that attitude and without the pace that we need to win the game", he told the club's official website.

"They're important points. In the second half, we reacted a little bit more but that's not enough".

There are also questions being raised about the signings made by the Chilean.

This was Shelvey's fifth start of the season, and he is now the club's top goalscorer with two, but the impressive performances of Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff, and Matty Longstaff have kept the former Liverpool man on the bench - for a few matches this year.

"You can not repeat such low performances as we did in the first 45 minutes today and the game against Everton".

The home fans jeered the players both at half-time and full-time in the game against the Magpies at London Stadium. We've been in worse positions than now but we need a strong reaction. "I hope the squad understands".
