"You always hope that every player plays for the biggest clubs that actually compete for the big prizes".

Juninho, OL's sporting director, said on Tuesday evening that he was "pretty sure" that Memphis Depay would be the Gones' captain this season.

Depay scored 11 goals in 14 matches in all competitions this season, including seven in Ligue 1 Conforama.

Depay has rediscovered his scoring touch in France though, netting 50 goals in 130 games for Les Gones, and has been linked with a move away from the club recently. "I don't want to talk about rumours that I know nothing about", he told Voetbal Primeur. "I am focused on a robust time so far".

According to reports of the Sun, Tottenham are lining up a £50million move for former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay. It's up to the club that is interested. "I under no circumstances rule it out".

As we wrote at the time: 'Considering a buy-back clause falls under those terms as it would be a pre-agreement that would "breach the contract" Depay and both clubs are about to sign, it seems there is little chance of one being included in the deal. "These things exist in football".

'But we have not received any offers so far. "But I think that he's really happy in Lyon at the moment".

Just like Tottenham, Lyon have also struggled this season as they are now sitting in 14th position in Ligue 1 and if it remains that way, Depay may consider of jumping ship and getting back to the Premier League. "We will discuss an extension of contract by the end of the year".

"Each time there's only a year left on a contract, the conversation over a renewal becomes rather hard", he said.

"It's also the same with Moussa Dembele, but the president and those that know football are conscious that, if you want to start winning titles again, to fight in the Champions League and in Ligue 1, it's important to keep players like that in the squad for a long time".
