Mahrez could have been an Arsenal player…but

The Gunners are now struggling under the Spanish tactician but the club's board has made it clear that they want to give Emery more time.

The match seemed intense from the very beginning and there was a controversial moment as City players thought Trent Alexander-Arnold handled the ball in the penalty area.

Many fans called for the Gunners to part ways with the Spaniard after the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City prior to the worldwide break. But now they look like an average team without any inspiration or creativity - and I don't think that's exclusively down to the players.

After the title, if I'd left for a top team, it wouldn't have been the same story. "The results are not good at all".

Personally I would hope Everton would move for someone more experienced and proven, but if they decide Arteta is their man, then I hope they get their man.

"Arsene Wenger built this club for 20 years and there was concern as generation after generation came and went". They had no spirit, no hunger, nothing at all.

Everyone knows this the typical official language clubs send out to the press and fans when things are not going well, when they sense tension. What is happening to this club?'

One fan claimed: 'Think it's time for you to retire with him.' while another said 'get out of my club and never come back'.

It's the opposite of what they're saying that might be true.

'People may laugh at me but I wouldn't mind seeing a former player on the bench.

Petit also namechecked former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Viera, who's doing a fine job at Nice, and Napoli's Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti.

"I want to see passion, emotion". Pick one: there are so many.

"My agent had talked with [Arsene] Wenger, who really wanted to sign me, [and] it was nearly done with Arsenal in the summer of 2016".
