One Friday night report from Fox Sports 640's Andy Slater suggested that Waiters had suffered a seizure after consuming gummies on the airplane, although Slater himself has since also tweeted an image of an Instagram post from Waiters' mother denying that interpretation.

Waiters has now missed the first nine games this season after having previously been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.

No one knows how the Dion Waiters situation will end.

Miami radio host Andy Slater reported that Waiters ingested too many "gummies" (presumably of the recreational-drug type and not vitamins) while the team was in flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles after its game Thursday vs. the Suns. "He had a seizure when he was finally woken up, I'm told". The Heat, who fell to 6-3 with Friday's loss to the Lakers, have 73 games remaining on their schedule.

Team officials declined to comment on whether a suspension was or could be in place, when asked by the Sun Sentinel. Waiters did not play against the Suns, with the team saying he had a stomach ache.

As in our original story, the Miami Heat have yet to comment.

ESPN sources said Waiters was unfamiliar with the edible and was seeking relief for a stomachache that kept him out of Miami's Thursday night game in Phoenix.

Waiters is in Year 3 of the four-year, $52-million contract he signed in 2017 and can earn an additional bonus of $1.1 million if he appears in at least 70 games this year.

This summer, Waiters spoke about being "in a dark place" amid criticism previous year over weight and conditioning issues as he returned from an injury.

What Waiters took was an edible containing THC. So instead of me joining the circus I told myself you from (Philly) you've been through worst s-- in your life than this.
