A point at Wembley against Montenegro in the 1,000th global match for the men's team would be enough to guarantee qualification.

"I guess what James has learned is that if you have an involvement with England, then there's an increased spotlight on you and increased interest in your personal and private life as well" Gareth Southgate said after pictures of Maddison emerged.

"It wasn't a great decision he took (going to a casino)".

England manager Southgate insists Kyle Walker's worldwide career is not over despite omitting him for a third-successive squad.

"Everyone has a camera phone and has a chance to make some money. He's got to come into the squad and fight for his place like anyone else".

Michael Keane, who started in the 2-1 defeat in Prague, has not been selected this time around but Manchester City defender John Stones has been recalled following a return from injury, while Mings was picked ahead of him for the Bulgaria match.

Asked whether Manchester City full-back Walker's England career was over after amassing 48 caps, Southgate replied: "Absolutely not".

"There's still a bit to see and a bit more to test him but it's good he's back fit and playing".

Ox was in impressive form for the Reds as Liverpool demolished Genk FC in a Champions League game.

But Mason Mount is now a doubt after suffering an ankle injury in Chelsea's 4-4 Champions League draw with Ajax on Tuesday.

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has also been brought back into the senior fold, having featured for the Under-21s last month.

As well as Walker, there was no place for Aston Villa's in-form captain Jack Grealish or Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.
