Jennifer Donelan, the media relations director with the Prince George's County Police Department, confirmed the stabbing was the result of a fight related to the restaurant's popular chicken sandwich.

Fox 5 DC reports a man killed another man over a Popeyes chicken sandwich at a restaurant in Maryland. Paramedics took the 28-year-old to a hospital but he did not survive his injuries.

In this photo taken on August 22, 2019, a chicken sandwich is seen at a Popeyes as guests wait in line, in Kyle, Texas. She said an altercation began after an argument over cutting in line for the sandwich and spilled outside, where the victim was stabbed. Police said the suspect is still on the run. "This individual was in line specifically for the sale of the sandwich when another customer and he got into an altercation and that ended with the victim being stabbed outside of the business".

Prince George's County Police are still investigating the case, but believe that the incident may have started when someone cut in line at the restaurant.

"We are looking for a male, and that male knows who he is", Donelan said. Police are asking witnesses to come forward to help identify the suspect.

The initial release of the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen chicken sandwich earlier this summer became a social media phenomenon that inspired a series of insane incidents, including angry customers pulling guns in Texas when told the sandwiches were sold out.
