That doesn't mean Google can't still surprise fans, though, and a brand new report says the Pixel 4 might do something that no iPhone can match.

Nikkei Asian Review's sources tell the publication that this 5G phone is already in test production. Not too many details have been released about the smartwatch except that it will no doubt run Google's Wear OS.

The Google Pixel 4 is nearly upon us, with it set to launch on October 15, and while we're expecting to see the Pixel 4 and 4 XL, it looks like there could be a third handset on the cards as well - the Google Pixel 4 5G. Interestingly, the report notes that Google could possibly launch a new smartwatch and a notebook at the event. At the time, it appeared that Google was just not satisfied with Wear OS. While the Apple Watch has taken off, Android smartwatches have been less successful.

Google was rumoured to be working on a Pixel Watch years ago, eventually killing the project. But the 5G Pixel 4 would have to compete against the upcoming Galaxy S11 5G and OnePlus 8 5G, devices that would sport even better hardware than Google's handsets.

Do you think a Pixel Watch is ill-advised? The latter monitors the wearer's heart for abnormal rhythms that could be the sign of atrial fibrillation (AFib).
