Doom Eternal delayed into 2020

The post also mentioned a few changes to DOOM Eternal. Now, Doom 64 will not only be coming to PS4, Xbox and PC, but it will also be offered as a pre-order bonus for Doom Eternal.

The new release date is March 20, says it needs more time to "live up to our standards of speed and polish".

"Throughout the development of DOOM Eternal, our goal has been to deliver a game that exceeds your greatest expectations across the board", said id Software in a statement.

To try and make the move sting a little less for the Doom fans out there - who are no doubt in their own personal hell right now - Bethesda has clarified what to expect around the Doom Eternal release. The Switch version of the game will launch sometime after that.

The Nintendo Switch version is also no longer releasing day and date with other platforms, and will instead arrive at some point later. Nevertheless, I'd much prefer a polished experience than another AAA game kicked out the door before it's ready to be played.

Having to wait an additional four months will likely be disappointing for those who just want to play more DOOM, but as far as game delays go, this one isn't too bad. Doom Eternal also adds lots of enemies, featuring twice as many demons as 2016's Doom.
