Chelsea have been dealt another injury blow during the global break after N'Golo Kante picked up a problem during the warm-up before France's clash with Iceland.

"He felt a pain in his adductor muscle".

It meant Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko came into Didier Deschamps' line-up for the Group H fixture, which France won 1-0. 'He had a sense where he did not if truth be told feel tickled to play. "I made the decision [to remove him from the team], because maybe it could get worse", Goal.com quoted Deschamps as saying. By putting Moussa in, I knew that he was ready.

Kanté was set to feature for France but had to pull out at the last second due to an injury, although manager Deschamps has stressed that the 28-year-old hasn't suffered any serious damage.

Talking after naming Kante in the squad in spite of Lampard's save a query to, Deschamps stated: 'Lampard asked me no longer to pick out out Kante on the final rally, if it's serene that capability.

"If that's still the way I'm going to call him later to tell him it would be nice if you play Olivier Giroud a little bit!"

Kante has featured in only half of Chelsea's eight Premier League matches so far this season.

But his latest setback could see the tireless midfielder miss Chelsea's next game against Newcastle United on October 19, with Mateo Kovacic poised to deputise if he fails to recover.
