Sens. Elizabeth Warren of MA and Bernie Sanders of Vermont are about even for second, with 19% and 16%, respectively.

Among those voters who prefer an approach that prioritizes policies with a better chance of becoming law, 38% support Biden for the Democratic nomination, 17% Warren and just 8% Sanders.

"Having a more even age distribution of supporters could put Warren in a strong position, but, in order to capitalize on this strategy, either Biden or Sanders would need to lose their hold on their older and younger bases", according to Emerson Polling Research Assistant Isabel Holloway.

The former vice president, who has contrasted his own vision with calls for Mr. Sanders and Ms. Warren for a universal "Medicare for All" health care system, has picked up 13 points of support on that issue since June. Trump is facing an impeachment inquiry by the House of Representatives over allegations that he pressured the Ukrainian government to investigate Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, as well as the 2016 USA election in return for releasing hundreds of millions in congressionally mandated defense funding meant for Ukraine.

Biden got the support of 34 percent of Democrat and Democrat-leaning voters in the CNN poll - the highest level he has hit in the survey since his formal campaign launch on April 25 when he reached 39 percent. Elizabeth Warren of MA at 19% and Sen.

The Buttigieg campaign has also boosted its spending on TV and digital ads in the state. At 13 percent, he closely trailed Sen.

Businessman Andrew Yang comes in at 2 percent and the remainder polled at 1 percent or lower.

Buttigieg has been rising in the polls after positioning himself as a centrist alternative to former vice president Joe Biden. "But in the Democratic Party, that's not going to hold him back".

The survey, taken October 17-20, included interviews with 424 registered voters who are Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents.

"For the reason that closing debate, appropriate anecdotally, I've had 5 - 6 of us inquire me: 'Is there any individual else?'" Democrat Leah Daughtry told the Cases.
