Check For Incompatible Apps Before You Install MacOS Catalina

The other day, Apple released its new macOS Catalina edition with one iconic piece of software in it replaced by several different apps. However, macOS users like me know that there are added advantages of having a native Netflix app. The Find My app which was seen in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 also makes its way to MacBooks with macOS Catalina. Click the "Get" button and then click on "Download" when prompted to download the macOS Catalina 10.15 installer on your Mac. Likewise, the few people left buying music - this author included - will still be able to access the iTunes Store. Apple developers have done extensive work to improve it in new macOS Catalina. Apple has also put out a statement saying that users who rely on XML file support shouldn't update to the new OS until developers push out fixes for their applications.

Of course, this isn't the first time a new iOS feature has been significantly delayed, and in fact Apple deserves some kudos for at least a bit of transparency here.

While the switch to 64-bit only has been broadly welcomed, it is not without its problems.

The break-up of iTunes into a number of separate apps has also led to issues, affecting DJs in particular.

Developers using Apple's system to convert iPad software to macOS say Catalyst still needs lots of work before it can fulfill its promise. Save all your important documents to an external hard drive or the cloud.

Apple's gaming subscription service, Apple Arcade, is now also making it to Macs. With Sidecar, you can use an iPad display for tablet input to draw, sketch or write with Apple Pencil in any Apple or third-party Mac app that supports stylus input.

With the world becoming more conscious of security in times of data breaches, macOS Catalina enhances protections for Mac.

Of course, some of this may all be a moot point with Apple Arcade now available for macOS Catalina beta users.

64-bit apps are more capable than their 32-bit counterparts because they can take better advantage of more powerful 64-bit multi-core processors, tap into larger amounts of RAM and more. The 32-bit applications will simply not run under the new system, this version of macOS is a 64-bit only.

Sidecar allows users to expand their Mac workspace by using an iPad a secondary display.

"You may want to remain on your current version of macOS until these issues have been resolved". Earlier they could be used only on iPhone or iPad.
