Sean Dancer's women's team will enjoy home advantage in their two-legged tie owing to their place in the top 10, while the men's side, ranked 13th in the world after a disappointing European Championships campaign, will travel to Vancouver for the right to qualify for Japan.

Global federation CEO Thierry Weil said that if South Korea qualifies and still wishes to form a joint team with the North, the decision will be up to the IOC, not the FIH. "He attracts a whole lot of positivity to the center team and considers in aggressive, attacking hockey, and we've been focused on our group objective of qualifying for its 2020 Tokyo Olympics", additional Manpreet Singh on the sidelines of the ongoing National Coaching Camp at SAI, Bengaluru.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, North Korean athletes were given special consideration and allowed to participate in the women's ice hockey competition as the first unified Korean team in Olympic history.

"The team has been performing well in the last few months".

Great Britain's men and women have discovered the opposition who stand between them and a place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

India beat Russian Federation 10-0 the last time they met in the Olympic qualifiers in June. Last time both the teams had met, the American women had given them a tough fight. "So, we are looking forward to a good challenge for us", said men's team head coach Graham Reid.

Eight-time Olympic champions India are ranked No.5 in the world while the Russians are at No. 22.

"We have built some good momentum with this young squad and I am satisfied with how focused this unit has been".

"We knew the areas we had to work on to be in the best form to play two back-to-back matches and we are working towards winning them and qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics 2020", stated women team captain Rani Rampal. "I believe training and playing against some of the best teams of the world will give us a good platform for the qualifiers", Reid said. "I am sure they will come well prepared as it's the Olympic Qualifiers and they are capable of surprising any team hence it is important we remain focused on our own performance and play our best hockey", he added.

According to the FIH, the final participation in the Olympic Games for any team must be approved and confirmed beforehand by their respective National Olympic Committee.
