According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is nearing a pilot commitment for a prequel series based on Geroge R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood", a companion book to the author's "Song of Fire and Ice" saga.

We might be getting a second Game of Thrones prequel.

"Game of Thrones" was one of the most successful series in HBO's history, shattering viewership records and racking up Emmy nominations. It should not come as a surprise that this new prequel focusing on the Targaryen dynasty would be based on the newest Martin book, given that "fire and blood" are the key words associated with that family. Of course, it wasn't as obvious then because Martin had brought up Fire & Blood earlier in the same blog post in the context of the book's sales.

But don't expect any Emilia Clarke on this show.

"Two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer". Of course, spoiler alert, everyone knows what happened to Aegon, but the book answers what really happened during the Dance of the Dragons and the civil war that led to the demise of almost all Targaryens. "I can not say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories". The Targaryens are plagued with madness throughout their bloodline, and share a close bond with dragons.

HBO initially announced that four prequel series were in the works and quietly added a fifth one in the months that followed.

The pilot for this series will be set 300 years before the events that concluded the eighth season of GoT.

"I am late coming to it, I have to say", the actress said at the Worldwide Orphan's 14th Annual Gala in New York City.

Nine other stars have also signed on, including Jonathan Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Jamie Campbell Bower, Denise Gough, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo.
