Celeste's Free Expansion Coming Soon, Developers Become Extremely OK Games

The update will be available free-of-charge on all platforms September 9, which is the most numerically appropriate release date ever. This change will only make things work "better, faster, easier, and more fun", so this looks to be good news all around for the indie team. With this, the previous developer and publisher name the team worked under, Matt Makes Games Inc., will be largely retired. Forming EXOK has also conveniently allowed us to restructure things in a more equitable fashion, so that we can all share ownership over our collective efforts.

Chapter 9 includes over 100 new levels (bringing the game's total to over 800 levels), over 40 minutes of new music from Lena Rain, several brand new mechanics and items, and does not have a B- or C-Side. The team's website now lists only TowerFall and Celeste as their projects but does also have a third spot marked as "Mystery Game" meaning they got something new in the works.

Celeste's "Chapter 9" DLC, the long-teased Farewell chapter, will be available on September 9, 2019. As the name implies, this will be a chance for players to reconnect with some of their favorite characters for a final goodbye. Extremely OK Games said the goal is to get the Xbox One version out on that day too, but it may get a slight delay compared to the others. All you need to do to unlock the new DLC is complete Chapter 8 of Celeste.

Also, we want to mention the Limited Run physical Celeste release.
