The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday said officials of the California Institute of Technology (CalTech) and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) visited its headquarters and met its Chairman K. Sivan.

"Scott Tilley, an novice astronomer who discovered American climate satellite tv for pc IMAGE in 2018 that was thought-about to be misplaced, on September 10, tweeted: "#DSN 24 beams 12KW of RF on the #Moon in hopes of stimulating #Chandrayaan2's lander #VikramLander into speaking with residence. ISRO is still conducting investigations about what went wrong with the Vikram lander but is relieved to know where it is. On sending the signal to the lander, the moon acts as a radio reflector and sends a small portion of the signal back to the earth that can be detected after traveling 800,000 kilometers. "I believe other DSN stations have done the same too". Each site has a minimum of four antennae, from 25 metre to 70 metre in diameter. The three stations are located 120 degrees apart on Earth with an aim to ensure that any satellite in deep space is able to communicate with at least one station at all times.

A rover will study permanently shadowed moon craters that are thought to contain 100 million tons of water, deposits that were confirmed by India's Chandrayaan-1 mission in 2008. Besides Chandrayaan 2's own orbiter, NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is also revolving around Moon. First, its "passive payload" laser reflector array was installed on Vikram lander that was meant to track the lander's exact spot and also calculate the exact distance between Earth and Moon. But after the Vikram had "hard-landed" on Moon, the fate of the Nasa payload, consisting of array of mirrors, is unknown.

From its takeoff in July, the Chandrayaan 2 mission has been much-publicized in the media and was expected to be a historic triumph for the nation.

"We are going to land at a place for the first time on the south pole and NASA has already announced the project of a having human habitat type of thing on the south pole". NASA's orbiter is scheduled to pass over the region on September 17. For years, India has had its sights set on joining the USA, the Soviet Union, and China in the elite group of nations that have landed on the Moon.
