THQ Nordic acquires Milestone Srl

Gunfire is the developer behind the critically acclaimed game series Darksiders®, Chronos® and From Other Suns® and is a long-term development partner of THQ Nordic. THQ Nordic also announced the development of a new Saint's Row game by Volition (which isn't too surprising) and a new unannounced IP developed by Fishlabs. The company stated that it picked up the rights to TimeSplitters previous year.

A fourth game was rumoured to be in production at Free Radical in 2007 but in 2009 Crytek snapped up the studio and put the game on hold, renaming the studio to Crytek UK.

Originally released in 2000, TimeSplitters is a first-person action shooter which sees you traveling through time in a story mode spanning several centuries in an effort to stop an alien race of TimeSplitters from wreaking havoc on humanity, and time itself.

It's quite awesome how fast things have changed since then, Crash and Spyro were born before some of this generations gamers but they have been buying the titles like the proverbial hotcakes. Maybe we'll get to smack more island zombies around after all. THQ Nordic already worked with the studio on Darksiders III, which launched in November 2018.

That's on top of the fact that yet another studio is working on Dead Island 2 as Deep Silver's Dambuster Studios takes over from Sheffield-based Sumo Digital.

"As one of the leading companies in the racing games industry, we have assembled an experienced team and a large and growing portfolio of titles that we believe will fit perfectly with, and benefit from, THQ Nordic's network of development studios and publishing capabilities", said Milestone CEO Luisa Bixio.
