Edwards studied journalism at BU's College of Communication.

Siblings Chris Edwards, 24, and Erin Edwards, 20, along with their mother, Marsha Edwards, were part of a family prominent in metro Atlanta's medical and civic circles.

Edwards recently completed a summer internship at NBC New York, posting a thank-you on Instagram on August 10 to everyone she'd worked with and those who "shared their stories with me this summer".

Police allege in a statement that Marsha Edwards died of "an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound" after killing her two kids - but still have no idea why. Marsha's son Chris - a graduate of Woodward Academy and Elon University - was the digital content manager for the Atlanta Mayor's Office of Film and Entertainment.

According to local media, Edwards is the ex-wife of a well-known Atlanta surgeon, Dr. Christopher Edwards - the victims' father.

"Dr. Edwards, his extended family and friends are in a state of grief and shock, and privacy of the family is paramount as arrangements are being made", a statement from Dr. Edwards' spokesperson said.

58-year-old Marsha Edwards allegedly committed the murder-suicide just hours after posting on Instagram: "I could not ask for better children".

"For something like this to happen and unfold, it's unbelievable", neighbor Talia Cartall told WSB. "There was no sign of violence or anything". "They just seemed like a normal happy family", they said to WTVM.

According to the newspaper, Erin worked as an intern for Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms last summer.

Edwards, her brother, and her mother were all members of the National Association of Black Journalists, which shared a statement on Thursday. "Chris and Erin were attractive, vibrant and brilliant young adults whom we had the pleasure of knowing their entire lives", the mayor said in a statement on Twitter. "They filled the lives of all who met them with joy, compassion, and kindness".
