Prince Andrew 'appalled' by pal Jeffrey Epstein's sex scandal

"The Duke of York has been appalled by the recent reports of Jeffrey Epstein's alleged crimes", reads the statement issued on Monday, according to Town & Country.

"His Royal Highness deplores the exploitation of any human being and the suggestion he would condone, participate in or encourage any such behaviour is abhorrent", the Palace said.

Video obtained by the Mail Online apparently shows the Duke of York peering out from a door of Epstein's NY mansion and waving goodbye to a woman after Epstein had left an hour earlier in the company of another young woman. Epstein struck a deal, however, to plead guilty in 2008 to the Florida state felony prostitution charge, and register as a sex offender.

Epstein, 66, killed himself in jail earlier this month while awaiting trial after being charged with sex trafficking. That became a big scandal in 2010 when another photo of Andrew and Epstein walking in Central Park was published by News of the World.

The Duke of York touched on the subject during the 2015 World Economic Forum in Davos, saying, "I wish to reiterate and reaffirm the statements already made on my behalf by Buckingham Palace".

The disturbing allegations resurfaced in light of Epstein's apparent suicide in his Metropolitan Correction Center jail cell last week.

Buckingham Palace's statement on Sunday (local time) was its second on Prince Andrew's relationship with Mr Epstein in less than a week.

Prince Andrew's friendship with Epstein has been a heated topic of discussion in British tabloids.

The cache of court documents included a photograph of the prince with his arm around the waist of Virginia Roberts, then 17, who claimed that she was paid by Epstein for sexual encounters with the prince.

Eugenie who got married past year has recently become the first royal to make a podcast as part of her work with an anti-slavery charity.

And yet, the video shows that Prince Andrew was still spending time with Epstein (and various young women) in 2010.

"Any suggestion of impropriety with underage minors is categorically untrue".

Andrew has vehemently denied the claims - and a judge eventually ordered them stricken from the case as immaterial. Another, Adriana Ross, was asked, "Has Prince Andrew ever been involved with underage minor females to your knowledge?"
