Valentina Sampaio is reportedly the first-ever transgender model for Victoria's Secret!

Previously, Victoria's Secret faced a lot of criticisms after Ed Razek, the chief marketing officer of Victoria's Secret's parent company L Brand, made a transphobic comment in an interview with Vogue past year. In another video she took on the set, she used hashtags #diversity #representatividade and #vspink in the caption.

The 22-year-old model was also the first transgender model to grace any edition of Vogue magazine when she posed for Vogue Paris, in February 2017.

Weeks later, Halsey, who performed at the 2018 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, wrote on Twitter that after the event was filmed, "some comments were made regarding the show that I simply can not ignore". He stated, "Shouldn't you have transsexuals in the show? No".

The brand was called out a year ago for remarks made by an executive about transgenders and plus size models walking for the fashion show.

"Do I think about diversity? Yes. No, I don't think we should", he said in an interview with Vogue previous year.

"If you're asking if we've considered putting a transgender model in the show or looked at putting a plus-size model in the show, we have", Razek told the publication. He said that they shouldn't be included in the company's television show, "because the show is a fantasy", in an interview with Vogue.

It's been a long time coming for the brand to include a more diverse cast of women, including plus-size and trans models. "It's a 42-minute entertainment special". "It was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are".

He added, "We've had transgender models come to castings". Comment below and let us know.

This is definitely a stepping stone for Victoria's Secret, in becoming a more inclusive brand and not just a hoard of people from a privileged background.
