The presence of non-regional military forces in the strategic region will act as a "source of insecurity", Zarif was quoted as saying. President Donald Trump claimed the USA warship took out an Iranian drone about a month after the Revolutionary Guards shot down a US drone in the Persian Gulf region.

Reacting to reports of Israeli willingness to join the coalition, he said it would be "highly provocative and can have disastrous consequences for the region". The U.S. has especially fostered these ties since President Donald Trump abandoned a 2015 nuclear deal with Tehran a year ago, imposing sanctions created to isolate and undermine the revolutionary Shiite Islamic Republic.

The Iranian representative called on the global community to strongly condemn the illegal move by the U.S. He said that affiliated organizations of the UN and the state-members should get united in defense of the basic principles of worldwide law and against the prejudice.

The official said that Iranian regime's military boats have been "spoofing" the automatic identification system merchant ships use to report and disguise their vessels as merchant ships instead of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or Iranian Navy vessels.

"[The] Persian Gulf is a vital lifeline and thus nat'l security priority for Iran, which has long ensured maritime security", Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted on August 9, adding, "Mindful of this reality, any extra-regional presence is by definition [a] source of insecurity - despite propaganda".

"The maritime coalition that U.S. is trying to form will create more instability and insecurity", Iran's Defense Minister Amir Hatami was quoted as saying by Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency on Thursday during phone calls with his counterparts from Qatar, Oman and Kuwait. The U.K. recently became one of the few nations to respond to the U.S.' call for a "maritime security initiative" already rejected by Germany and criticized by France.

This decision followed attacks targeting oil tankers and the seizure of a British oil tanker amid aggravated tensions between Tehran and the US. Iran has also shot down an American drone.

On July 19, Iran seized a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that it had collided with a fishing boat and violated worldwide law.

The official said the Iranian jammers have no effect on USA military warships and aircraft. "I am sure that today the Zionists and their regional allies are not interested in war because they know the geography of such a war would be vast and they know the outcome".

The official said that Israel believes Iran has increased its involvement in the Strip in order to turn Hamas into its operational arm against Israel.

"Iran is in serious financial trouble".

It was not immediately clear if the offer was strictly conditioned on the intelligence provided by the terror groups.
