Apple Arcade Will Reportedly Cost $5 A Month

While every game on the service can be downloaded for offline play, it is important to note that users do not own the titles from the Apple Arcade catalogue. Once the service launches, its monthly subscription fee will likely be in the vicinity of $5 or $10.

Apple announced Apple Arcade at their Spring 2019 Apple Event. First, non-paid games in the App Store aren't really "free".

The Apple Arcade games subscription service is set to launch later this year (somewhere between September and November), and we got a good look at the interface and design of the platform after some leaked images from an internal preview for Apple employees. However, it'll be available this fall, that much we know.

As these things usually go, Apple has yet to confirm the subscription fee for Arcade, an as such, we do advise you to take this news with a pinch of salt. Apple Arcade games will be playable across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV devices, allowing players to pick up where they left off in a game, even on another device. The program is said to end when iOS 13 launches to the public. Moreover, you can share your Apple Arcade subscription with all members in a Family Sharing account. But this could further improve the affordability of the service, which is certainly something that Apple Arcade could have over Google Stadia (that has plans to charge for certain titles). Downloading games from the service will work similarly to how users now download games from the App Store.

The price was discovered by 9to5 Mac in the APIs used by the App Store app. These games will be exclusive to Apple devices and Apple will be supporting the developers by investing in their work.
