On Wednesday, the Wild announced former Stars winger Bill Guerin as their new general manager, joining Mike Modano and Mats Zuccarello as a trio of ex-Stars to take their talents to "The State of Hockey".

As a member of the Penguins front office, Pittsburgh won the Stanley Cup in 2016 and 2017.

Bill Guerin was introduced Thursday as the new Wild GM. Guerin will step in to replace Paul Fenton, who was sacked earlier in the summer after just one year on the job.

Guerin, who will turn 49 on November 9, spent the past eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins, including the past five as assistant GM.

The Wild have found their new general manager.

He won two Stanley Cups - 1995 with New Jersey and 2009 with Pittsburgh - and He scored 429 career goals and 856 points in 1,263 career games.

"I think the lineup here is good". And with less than a month until training camp opens restricted free agent Kevin Fiala remains unsigned and an extension for defenseman Jared Spurgeon is high on the to-do list. It will now be Guerin's job to pick up the pieces. This team can definitely get better and if we do the right things at the right time, everything is here for us to win.

"It's a great market, a great community, great fans. everything is here". About two hours after the Wild confirmed his hiring, they announced that center Joel Eriksson Ek signed a two-year, $2.975 million contract. "The challenge to put a winning team on the ice and win, when this job became available, I just said, this place has everything you'd ever want in a job for a General Manager".
