Simon's manager, Lester Mo, told the Associated Press, "He was stabbed in the tummy area and also got a cut on his right hand".

In a shocking video from an onlooker posted online, a man rushed onto the stage at 10:17 a.m., pulling a knife out of his pants to stab Yam.

The unidentified attacker has been taken to the Zhangjiabian Police Station for investigation, South Metropolis Daily reported.

Prolific Hong Kong actor Simon Yam was attacked and stabbed at an event in China on Saturday.

In addition to the abdominal injury, Simon was also being treated for injuries to four fingers of his right hand.

Yam is reportedly in stable condition at this time. The 54-year-old Yam, best known to American fans for his role in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life, was seriously injured in the incident.

A video was posted on China's Twitter-like Weibo service showing a man in a dark vest rushing up to the stage and attacking Yam with a knife in the city of Zhongshan in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong.

He was rushed to a hospital, and local police later released a report confirming he had been hospitalized for a check-up, but had not suffered a life-threatening injury. Video demonstrates the rush person on the stage and his pocket removes a weapon.

Security guards rushed the chaotic scene and quickly detained the attacker, according to the BBC.

He lashes out repeatedly as the actor frantically tries to move away while clutching his stomach.
