There Was 1 Player Taken In Today’s NFL Supplemental Draft

While they may have benefitted from adding a guy like Thompson, it was sensible for them to avoid the risk and keep their 2020 assets in place, especially given that the team is now lacking a second-round pick in next year's draft.

Agent Brad Cicala told Tom Pelissero of NFL Media that his client Jalen Thompson visited with the Packers on Tuesday. The results of those tests were supposed to be shared with the rest of the league's teams.

The Giants will still have eight draft picks in the 2020 NFL Draft and are expected to be awarded at least one compensatory selection after losing safety Landon Collins in free agency.

Unlike the normal draft that has already taken place, whichever team that drafts Thompson would have to forfeit a future draft pick from the next draft depending on what round the player is selected in this upcoming supplemental draft.

Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst had reported earlier in the week that the Packers had interest in Thompson. Arizona brings back both of its own starting safeties, former Washington star Budda Baker and D.J. Swearinger Jr., so the Cardinals could either take him on as a depth piece or choose convert him to a cornerback or nickel - both positions of greater need on Arizona's roster. The Bengals also have a new head coach who could be content with things as they are.

A year after spending a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft on cornerback Adonis Alexander, the Washington Redskins stayed quiet in the 2019 supplemental draft.

Despite having five career starts under his belt and 43 tackles, Cullen was unlikely to start for the Orange in 2019 and it would be insane for a team to waste a pick on him. He was named to the All-Pac-12 second team in 2017 and was honorable mention last season.

Thompson's focus now shifts to earning a spot on Arizona's 53-man roster - the Cardinals begin training camp on July 24 in Glendale - while WSU's focus turns to replacing him. Thompson does a fantastic job of attacking the ball in the air, consistently making a play at the high point. Thomas fits that description, and could very well threaten for playing time.
