If you're selected - presuming you've first signed up over here - you'll be invited via email, although only a limited number of people for each location will be invited at first to keep the server load light. In case you missed it, Minecraft has just celebrated its 10th birthday.

If you're a block building junkie, then you're probably pretty excited about Minecraft Earth.

The exploration part of the game allows players to walk around their own neighborhood and see it rendered into a Minecraft map based on satellite imagery.

"You can even team up with others for mini-adventures!"

There are also chests and unique new mobs like mud pigs scattered across the environment so there will be much to discover once the game is fully released. It is a trial period to ensure the proper functioning of the game before its official launch.

The Minecraft world is just nearby. This video will show you jungle, desert, and arctic biomes, and lets you know there are more biomes to come in Minecraft Earth.

During the beta, Microsoft also plans to continue adding features to Minecraft Earth in order to expand gameplay opportunities and content.

The company informs that the App in beta version will be released on iOS first within a time of two weeks and Android will follow soon thereafter.

Minecraft Earth, if you're unfamiliar, was initially unveiled in May as an augmented realty (AR)-enabled version of the popular game. You'll need to be over the age of 18, have a device running iOS 10/Android 7 or newer, and a Microsoft or Xbox Live account to get registered.

Once you collect enough tappables, you level up and once you have enough resources you can build things that are placed into the real world from your phone screen.
