Kamala Harris Dismisses 'Birther' Tweet As 'Racist'

Her previous highest was US$1.5 million after she launched her campaign, for United States president, earlier this year in Oakland, California, where she grew up. Broward Rep. Alcee Hastings, another longtime black lawmaker who represents Florida's second most Democratic-leaning district, was the first Florida member to endorse Harris last month.

Kamala's "Blackness" is in question because although she was born in the US, she was born to an Indian mother and Jamaican father, both immigrants; her marriage to a white man; and her record of incarcerating minorities as a prosecutor.

While Booker has come out swinging against Biden, appearing desperate in his attacks, Harris has shown a great deal more nuance in her disagreements with the former vice president.

Democrats picked Harris and Warren as the winners of night one and night two of the debates, respectively, and it wasn't even close: 59 percent of voters said Warren won the first night compared to 16 percent who said former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro, while 59 percent also said Harris won the second night, compared to 16 percent for Biden.

Harris interjected during a discussion of race and policing, noting that as the only black candidate on the stage, she should be able to respond.

"These posts are completely inappropriate and contrary to the honor and integrity I see-and expect-from our agents day in and day out", U.S. Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost said in a statement to Fox News.

"I mean, I have to be obviously candid with you". Kamala and her sister Maya, who is also a Democratic operative who has worked on the Hillary Clinton campaign, had a mixed upbringing, going to both a Hindu Temple and a Baptist church. She's not. She comes from Jamaican Slave Owners. Still, her fellow Democrats aspiring to clinch the party nomination backed her against the racists' attacks.

"Kamala Harris is *not a class="link-external" href="https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/attacks-on-kamala-harris-racist-ugly-democrats-hit-back-at-trolls-2061532?pfrom=home-topstories" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" *Lily Adams told The Washington Post over an email". That's fine. She's not an American Black.

Trump, a valuable Republican surrogate as his father faces a bruising 2020 race, posted the tweet of unverified information, then asked his more than three million followers: "Is this true?"

As it stands, Harris has now passed South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg to claim a share of third place with Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

"The presidential competitive field is stronger because Kamala Harris has been powerfully voicing her Black American experience", he wrote on Twitter, adding that Harris's first-generation story embodies the American dream. "Racism has no place in America".

Biden noted that the same forces that used "birtherism" to question Obama's American citizenship and race are now being used against Harris.

The ever-present issue of racism and nativism has erupted again in the USA political area, this time drawing Kamala Harris, the mixed-race Senator from California whose mother is South Indian, into the controversy. "This stuff is really vile and everyone should speak out against it", Adams tweeted.
