Zinedine Zidane said Gareth Bale is close to leaving Real Madrid after he was left out of Saturday's International Champions Cup clash against Bayern Munich. "It would be best for everyone".

According to the outlet, Bale's favoured destination if he did leave would be Chelsea, but the Stamford Bridge club are now facing a two-window transfer ban.

"I try to play freely, sometimes it's hard in football, but I'm the kind of player who, if he does not play freely, it's bad".

"If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing".

Corentin Tolisso, Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry all scored as Bayern raced into a three-goal lead.

He played 42 games for Los Blancos last season, half of those as a substitute, and injury problems have limited the Welshman to 79 La Liga appearances in the past four campaigns.

Real Madrid have refused to rule out selling Isco and Marco Asensio if the money could be reinvested in signing Manchester United's Paul Pogba or another marquee midfielder, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

Marca claimed on Tuesday that Spurs were ready to offer Bale an escape route from the Bernabeu, with a bid of around €60m mooted.

Zidane was then asked: "Bale has always said he wants to stay; has that changed?"

The club's next match in preseason is against Arsenal on Tuesday (Landover, Md.; 7 p.m. ET, 11 p.m. GMT - ESPN Deportes) with Zidane's men starting their La Liga campaign at Celta Vigo on August 17.
