The area is about 30 miles northeast of Seattle.

According to Natural Resources Canada and the US Geological Survey, the initial quake could be "lightly felt" in the Greater Victoria and Vancouver areas. There were no immediate reports of damage in either event. Police in nearby Lake Stevens reported no damage to city infrastructure.

This morning's tremor follows a cluster of quakes off Vancouver Island last week and a pair of major earthquakes that shook southern California on Thursday and Friday.

The state Department of Transportation said the agency would be inspecting bridges, but had no reports of damage.

Exactly one week after 3 significant earthquakes hit the BC coast, a 4.6 magnitude quake struck near Seattle, WA early Friday.

Caruso said the natural disaster was the product of a thrust fault, in which one side of a fault pushes upward in relation to its opposite side. The USGS said it received reports of people feeling the shaking from Vancouver to near Wenatchee, Washington. "It's not impossible, but it's small".
