"It is influenced by everything from R&B, hip-hop and Afro Beat".

The track will also feature on a multi-artist soundtrack album which has been co-produced by the singer.

In 2016, we learned Disney would be making a live-action version of The Lion King. "This is a new experience of storytelling".

On the same, she further continued, "I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline".

We've heard plenty of snippets, but "Spirit" is the first full song we've heard from The Lion King's soundtrack. "Each song was written to reflect the film's storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation".

To many film fans, the 1994 classic is one of - if not THE - finest Disney film that has ever been made because aside from the breathtaking animation and outstanding score, it's also a bloody good story that can still pull at your heartstrings.

Beyoncé, the voice of Nala in Disney's 2019 remake of The Lion King, is producing and curating the album for the film, and has a new single titled "Spirit" that's being released tonight. "Authenticity and heart were important to me".

Donald Glover voices Simba, while James Earl Jones returns to play Mufasa.

The cast is rounded out by Keegan Michael-Key, Florence Kasumba, and Eric Andre as the hyenas, and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and the duo of JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph as the young Simba and young Nala, respectively.

Beyoncé's contribution to the forthcoming The Lion King movie has finally been released and we have to admit, it sounds lovely!
