"(Friday night) was a little salt in our wounds", said Toronto first baseman Rowdy Tellez, who homered to help the Blue Jays win 8-7 on Saturday.

Boston also dropped its three-game series 2-1 to a Toronto team that sits 20 games below.500.

Trailing by four runs in the seventh, the Red Sox needed a little extra time to complete their latest dramatic comeback.

The Boston Red Sox look to stay hot after winning seven of their last eight games.

It was indeed the Red Sox's night, although it didn't appear so earlier as Toronto rookie Trent Thornton kept Boston in check while Boston ace Chris Sale struggled to make it through five innings. The Red Sox scored only one run in the final 15 innings of this series. Rafael Devers leads the Red Sox with 91 hits and 47 RBI while Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts have combined for 161 hits and 84 RBI.

Red Sox: LHP Brian Johnson (1-1, 10.00 ERA) gets his second start of the season.

Blue Jays: RHP Derek Law (0-1, 5.16 ERA) will open for the Blue Jays, Montoyo said after the game. Law performed that role for Jackson on June 12, and the right-hander has been scored upon just once in his last six outings while striking out eight in 6 1-3 innings.

Six of the Red Sox's seven hits were singles.

Brandon Workman (6-1) pitched a scoreless 10th for Boston, getting himself out of a jam with a nice fielding play on a grounder headed for center field by Eric Sogard, who had four singles in the game. Rodriguez has gone seven innings in each of his last two starts. His ERA is 4.71 and he has given up 1.4 home runs per nine innings.

Before that cameo, Johnson had a solid return after missing two months with left elbow inflammation, giving up one run and five hits in three innings to Baltimore on Sunday while throwing 70 pitches.

But Red Sox reliever Mike Shawaryn gave nearly all of it back in the seventh, giving up a leadoff single to Cavan Biggio before Galvis curled a two-run shot around the Pesky Pole.
