These record-breaking numbers for Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie are insane

In its first three days on Netflix, the streamer has confirmed that the movie has been seen by nearly 30.9 million accounts, which translates to the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix original flick.

In case you were one of the people scratching their heads when Netflix announced a four-movie deal with Adam Sandler back in 2015 (and then another four-movie deal two years ago) Netflix may have just cleared things up a bit for you.

It began streaming on June 14 and within three days had been watched from almost 31 million accounts.


Of those 30 million, over 13 million were from within the USA and Canada while the other 17 million or so were from across the globe.

So, apparently Jennifer Aniston's new Murder Mystery has had a record-breaking start on Netflix!

So yeah, Netflix are having a great time.


It has been a pretty whopper 12 months for Netflix, the world's most popular streaming service.

However, regarding Murder Mystery, Netflix revealed that 30,869,863 accounts in total watched the film and this includes accounts from which at least 70 per cent of the film was watched.

During its Q1 earnings call, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos also promised to release more such data in the near future. His deal with Netflix spans at least eight movies, so even more are coming. Luke Evans, Gemma Arterton, and Terrence Stamp also star in the film that was directed by Kyle Newacheck.
