As free agency quickly approaches, let's take a look at five of the biggest storylines heading into the summer.

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has declined his option for next season and will become an unrestricted free agent, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Durant suffered a ruptured right Achilles in Game 5 of The Finals and the timetable for his return date is unknown.

Iguodala told The Breakfast Club podcast that Durant's Achilles injury was more of "an act of God", than a kinetic outcome of his calf not being properly healed. He can also sign a max-level deal with teams such as the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets while teaming up with Kyrie Irving, though teams outside of the Warriors can only offer him as high as four years. "The first meeting took place in the Bay Area while Durant nursed a strained right calf; the second occurred in NY shortly after Durant had surgery to fix a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals".

The New York Knicks are hoping this will be the summer they can start turning things around for their tormented franchise, but they are not going to panic and recklessly spend money just to make a big splash.

According to Bucher, Irving is already making moves ahead of signing with his potential new team.

Bucher writes "Irving, meanwhile, also recently purchased a new home in South Orange, New Jersey, but league sources say he is pressing Durant to join him with the Nets and is trying to recruit [DeAndre] Jordan as well". The Knicks might get a meeting with Leonard but are not the favorites to land him. Kawhi Leonard appears to be the Clippers' priority in the coming weeks, while the 76ers very much are in win-now mode.
