Thomas is an old friend of Prince William and godfather to Princess Charlotte, while his brother Charlie is a good pal of Prince Harry.

Last week, Thomas proposed to Lucy Lanigan-O'Keeffe, the assistant headteacher at Thomas's Battersea, the school Prince George has attended since 2017.

Lucy Lanigan-O'Keeffe teaches outdoor learning and mindfulness at one of the four Thomas's schools in London, where Princess Charlotte will begin in September.

One of the couple's friends said in April: 'They are very happy and have been going out for some months now. Thomas was previously married to Lady Melissa Percy, who he married in 2013 at Alnwich Castle, where both Princes William and Harry were in attendance, with William serving as usher.

A teacher at Prince George's school is set to marry the Duke of Cambridge's best friend - with the five-year-old royal expected to be a page boy at the wedding.

Ms Lanigan-O'Keeffe is originally from Kilkenny and is a sister of Olympic pentathlete Arther Lanigan-O'Keeffe and daughter of barrister Stephen Lanigan-O'Keeffe.

The van Straubenzees attended Ludgrove School in Berkshire with William and Harry, as did their late brother Henry, also a close friend of the princes, who died in a auto crash aged 18.

The close links between the Royal Family and van Straubenzee family are long-standing. Thomas and Charlie, who is a close friend of Harry and expected to be Archie's godfather, had a brother, Henry, who tragically died in auto accident at the age of 18.

Thomas and Charlie were also both ushers at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding where Charlie gave a speech at the reception.

A memorial fund was set up by parents Alexander and Claire and the two princes are patrons.
