Netflix on Wednesday made its first formal appearance at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, showcasing plans for video games based on hit original shows such as "Stranger Things".

According to the press release, the free-to-play game will be location-based and feature Google Maps integration.

It's being developed in conjunction with Finnish developer Next Games, and it has been described as a location-based puzzle RPG game.

The game is 80s inspired (naturally), and will re-imagine the Stranger Things universe in the style of an Saturday morning cartoon. Levy said that "season four is definitely happening", he also added, "there's very much the possibility of a season beyond that one, that's now undecided".

Nike has teamed up with Netflix powerhouse series Stranger Things to release a new collection consisting of six different sneakers.

It all sounds pretty exciting and fun enough, but you'll have to wait a little while - Stranger Things is due for release in 2020. You'll explore The Upside Down and fight the evils that come from the darker reflection of the real world.

Stranger Things 3: The Game has 12 playable characters to choose from, each with "unique mechanics and moves." .

There's just one problem with that particular title: It has only been confirmed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for now.

Stranger Things has already started making its way into Fortnite, though.

The news comes directly from Netflix on Twitter, where the company teased partnerships with a number of external properties and companies, including Behaviour Interactive, Ubisoft, and Epic.
