Melania Trump’s media liaison Stephania Grisham named new White House Press Secretary

Melania Trump announced Tuesday that her longtime spokesman and confidante will succeed Sarah Sanders as White House press secretary.

Grisham has been with team Trump longer than anyone now in the White House, with the exception of Dan Scavino, both of whom started on the Trump campaign in 2015.

A Washington Post profile on Grisham from December 2018 said that Grisham, who has been with Trump since the first month that he launched his presidential campaign in 2015, had grown to become "one of the more powerful figures in the ever-evolving Trump White House" and in the title of the piece referred to Grisham as "Melania Trump's enforcer".

When Mrs Trump was criticised for her choice of a jacket worn on a trip to a migrant child detention centre in Texas, Ms Grisham quickly lambasted United States media for focusing on Mrs Trump's fashion choice. She has been with us since 2015 - @potus & I can think of no better person to serve the Administration & our country. Excited to have Stephanie working for both sides of the @WhiteHouse. She was part of the transition team after the election and was a deputy press secretary under Spicer before moving to Melania Trump's office.

President Donald Trump didn't look far for his next press secretary in Grisham, who for the past two years has been the communications director for the first lady.

Sanders had not held a press briefing since March, breaking decades of tradition.

Melania Trump announced the development in a tweet to close out the president's search for a press secretary after Sanders chose to resign and go back home to Arkansas earlier this month. She then joined the Trump campaign and, subsequently, the Trump administration as a White House communications aide. She's tough as nails. She's been with him since the beginning, is unquestionably loyal and has the respect of the press corps. Last November, Grisham issued a statement that "It is the position of the Office of the First Lady that (deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel) no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House". "She is a rockstar and ideal to fill Sarah's shoes!" he said.
