Fans of the show came to Lucie's defence when Joe pulled her to the side and made her cry after saying: "The whole thing with Tommy, I'm not happy with it, it is unusual".

Amy is now coupled up with Curtis Pritchard, and has received a lot of criticism online for her "unfair" treatment of Lucie Donlan.

"If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse in a relationship, call the Freephone 24/7 National Domestic Violence Helpline, run by Women's Aid in partnership with Refuge, on 0808 2000 247 or visit www.womensaid.org.uk".

This comes after Women's Aid released a statement condemning Joe's "controlling" behaviour on the ITV2 series.

Cornish surfer and model Lucie, 21, had stated time and time again that she's closer friends with the guys in the villa, in particular boxer Tommy Fury and Joe made it very clear to Lucie he found it "strange" and "disrespectful".

While Joe's behaviour towards her has gotten a huge media backlash and he has been accused of being controlling and possessive, Lucie's reaction when he was booted off showed that she does have feelings for the lad.

'I didn't know how I was coming across on the outside.

When Tommy chose to re-couple with Lucie, Joe was absolutely devastated.

In fact, the businessman even told her to spend more time with the girls to keep him happy.

"On the outside world, I'd find it disrespectful, and I don't want to doubt us".

"Love Island 2019" is a show where singles come to Majorca Island to look for love.

'And it was like I had these two days with her and they were so fantastic and we got on so well and then you have the spanner chucked in'. "It's unusual. I think it's time for you to get close with the girls".

'And I generally was but you feel that heightened pressure and you have these conversations and you have to address things'.

Suggesting Lucie would not see things the way some viewers have, Joe concluded: "If it was how people said it was I would have been removed".

'It's a shocker because we did get on so well and everyone can see that'.

"As I said, I will wait and hopefully we can reunite when she comes out".

However, a rep for Love Island told Ent Daily that Joe was not put into a safehouse and "was in the same accommodation all dumped islanders stay in".

"They do take precautions in there".

'I think she will be upset about what has come out because it is not me'.
