The report adds that Van den Berg had spoken to the other clubs in question, and was given a week to mull over his decision, yet it seems Liverpool have won the race to sign the central defender who has earned plaudits all across Europe.

"Not really, but I was thinking about [the idea of] training with Virgil".

"I was really happy and, to be honest, I was a little bit scared at first because such a big club had interest in me".

Liverpool have officially confirmed through their social media platforms that a deal has been agreed with PEC Zwolle for their young defender Sepp van den Berg.

During the championship in Holland, van den Berg participated in 15 matches, but didn't stand out with goals or passes for goals.

The Merseyside outfit won the Champions League thanks to a 2-0 victory over their domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Madrid showpiece earlier this month.

"I've seen what kind of players from the Academy grew into the first team here".

The youngster has claimed that it is a dream for him to join the biggest club in the world.

Van den Berg cited Reds manager Jurgen Klopp as one of the reasons he chose to come to Anfield.

"For me he is the best defender in the world right now, so I can learn a lot from him".

Van den Berg, a Netherlands youth global, is expected to finalise his move to Anfield in July.
